What would you see?

What would you see?

If you looked through my eyes what would you see?

Kids running and laughing, oh what a joy to be free.

Dogs jumping and barking, oh what a joy to be seen.

If you looked through my eyes what would you see?

Steps into my favorite places, oh they are far too steep.

Doors are always closed, they are heavy as a tree.

If you heard through my ears what would you hear?

The blasting sounds of country music, minus the beer.

The “I love you’s” from someone who is always near.

If you heard through my ears what would you hear?

Parents hushing their children, it sounds like a fear.

Someone just said, “she’s not welcome here.”

If you looked through my eyes what would you see?

A world so beautiful, all glory to Thee.

But so many man made obstacles, it’s hard to be me.

Unless of course there’s a hefty fee.

If you heard through my ears what would you hear?

The whispers of a God who made me not to have fear.

But so many words from adults, that make it very clear.

It would be easier for them, if I just disappear.

If you looked through my eyes,

would you even see what it’s like to be me?
